Apollo 13 was going to just be another routine mission into space, but after a mid-flight accident, plans changed. Due to an oxygen tank explosion, both the crew of Apollo 13 and the Kennedy space center worked hard at trying to solve the problem they had just encountered. It took seven days after the initial launch of Apollo 13 to get the team back to earth, despite the many other problems the team faced on the way back. After the first "successful failure" NASA took more precautions when it came to how they handled their missions and how they built their space shuttles. Apollo 13 showed the world that things can still go wrong not matter how many times it has been done before, especially in space.
